Upon seeing this post by Brian, I also made myself a pet. The “j” is for my name, Jake, combined with the Linux’s mascot, Tux.

It is amazing how fast Ubuntu has gained popularity. Even Debian itself was never as popular as it has been. As Desktop Linux suggests, it is due to the fact that it targets all ages. However, the worst thing about ubuntu is its dumb names. . It is worse than KDE, with KOffice, KWrite, KMail, etc. It’s better than Vista though!

Well, last night I put Ubuntu Hoary on my laptop. The sound works, my network card works… Everything except my wireless card. I still haven’t gotten it, since the site with the firmware is no longer. It works a lot better than RHEL3 did. My machine with Ubuntu before didn’t have any means of internet. Now I love the Ubuntu packaging system!

However, I also tried out Autopackage on it. It is so much more useful however on Slackware, since it has neither deb or rpm.

Well, I haven’t been on here in a while! I am now an admin at Tyuzfun! (http://tyuzfun.proboards40.com/index.cgi) Also, I started my own forum. It’s kinda boring right now, because I have hardly any people. Please at least give it a look. It’s phpbb, don’t worry. (http://s2.phpbbforfree.com/forums/coldsparks.html) Also, I tried out Zenwalk Linux on my 466MHz testing box. I like it alright, but it wasn’t as good as Ubuntu. Well, it released yesterday! I am going to wait for YAST to pick it up, but I can’t wait!
